When you think of beauty, you may ponder your love, or a painiting. It is only skin deep, correct?
Tonight after working a 10 hour shift of baking, frying, candying, carmelizing, and decorating, It was pretty much time to go home. We close at 10pm, but if you are seated at 9:59pm, then you can order and eat all you want. Well, that happened tonight. I got my side all cleaned and put away, the dishwasher on the other side was all setand ready to leave... and then i get a dessert order at 10:40 for a chocolate bombe, Apple pie, and 2 orders of Profiteroles. I was all cleaned up ready to leave, but these jerks were seated at 9:59! Also, chocolate bombes take 10 minutes to make mind you. So i throw the dessert in the oven, scoop all the icecream i need, heat up the apple pie, design all the plates with every shorthand trick i know, swipe 4 sprigs of mint, and have everything ready to go. 10 minutes later i take the bombe out of the oven, throw it on the plate with haste, and take the desserts to the waitress. This whole time i'm throwing a fit because she decided to sell them the desserts that take the longest to prepare, 45 minutes after we are officially closed! So i clock out and grab my things and we leave.
So in the car sits Eric (head chef/my homeboy) Andrea ( dishwasher) and myself in the back. We are driving down east avenue in Pittsford. We round the corner past St. John fischer, and pass a resturaunt called Hawthornes. ( Eric and i hold nothing but contempt for that place because they make thier soups from powders!) Eric stops the car, and looks back. "Hey, is that my buddy Pete?" Andrea gets out of the front and moves to the back. A black man about 50 years old gets in the car. It's a friend of Eric's whom he used to work with at hawthornes. Eric drives Andrea and pete, and myself home.
Now you may be wondering what the point of this story was. Well, Pete was outside waiting for the bus to come, because his ride home never showed up. He had just gotten outside, and was about to wait 45 minutes in the dark, freezing cold for the last bus on route. He would have had to take 2 busses to get all the way home. He would have traveled from Pitsford all the way to Thurston Ave. On the West side of the city, travleling over an hour and a half just to get home after a long days work. What relevance does that have? Well if those people hadn't ordered those desserts so late, and i wouldn't have had to do something i was STILL being payed for, we would have missed him by 10 minutes! His bus would have never came, because there WAS no bus coming to the city. He missed it by 10 minutes.
My point goes to show that sometimes when you think your life is burdened by simple things that you still are rewarded for, maybe it happens so that people a little less fortunate than you can get a break once and a while. The way life plays itself out is funny. The events that happened tonight have opened my eyes a little wider. Working a little harder completely helped someone else who deserved it out in the end. Now to me, that is truly beautiful.

First i liked more the other background, it was kind of warm to me.
Secondly, i'm sorry but if i was one of those clients i would have done the same! I usually don't eat much during the lunch so that i can eat more of what i like the most: desserts. And it's not my fault that the dessert is the last thing people eat!
But the way you saw this experience is very interesting. It's trully amazing how little things can change the destiny of a person, or not as much as destiny but as you say, the simple fact that that man would have waited there for nothing. It's, as you say, trully beautiful. And more beautiful it is that you can see it.
yes, i agree.....but
Don't ever be the last to order food!! It's just not right. especially 45 minutes after the kitchen has CLOSED! These people decided to have a little holiday get together and after eating dinner, exchanged presents for a half an hour, and THEN decided to order dessert. It's just plain rude. Imagine if you can... you've been there working for 10 hours already, your tired as hell, EVERYTHING is cleaned up which took you an hour to clean, then instead of being able to go home and get a good night's sleep, you have to wait 40 minutes doing absolutely nothing but waiting for people to order food, so you can take everything out again, and clean for another 10 minutes AFTER they are sereved! It;s just rude. I'd never be caught dead doing that! And don't you do it either!!! Hehe
haha, you first!
