Well last night after work, i played trombone for a friend of mine. He's a teacher at 2 elementary schools, and they were having thier winter concerts. His bands have no trombones so i came and read the parts for the concert. Everything was kool, and the kids sounded great.....but.....
Before the concert, these kids were bats out of hell. They were like Carlton Banks from fresh prince of bel-air when he was hooked on speed!!! These kids were runnin and yellin all over the damn place! I sat and obsereved each of the kids in the half hour i sat there waiting to play. The black kids were runnin around, and talking shit to one another, and eventally two kids ended up wanting to fight one another. Then there was the little instigator kid, who egged on the pushing and saying things like"you gonna jus let him push u like dat?" Then you had the white kids. One kid was practicing his saxophone quietly in the corner. the other ones were putting on blow up instruments and beating the hell outta each other! The girls were different though. Both black and white girls sat together, and started playing thier scales(flutes and clarinets...as usual). That was pretty pleasing. But just my general observation was that, THESE KIDS ARE OUTTA CONTROL!!! These damn kids have no kind of home training. I remember when i was in elementary school, and when i had a concert, my ass was going over my fingerings and making sure i looked good. these kids today are more worried about what someone else is doing and how loud they can play in thier friends ear till it bleeds!!! These kids need a old fashioned ass whoopin'!!!
anyway, Christmas eve i tommorow, and i have to work. meh. Well i wouldn't have anything else to do, so i might as well get payed! Merry Christmas everyone!!!
